The explanatory essays are descriptive essays examining a process, event, or idea, and explain how it works or what it is. To write a good explanatory essay, the writer must be clear who the reader and have in mind what you need it to understand it. The writer also has a responsibility to cover the topic in great detail, because, otherwise, it seems advertising; but neither must seem an attack. In explanatory trials no bids are made.

1

Make a list of ideas about your topic from the point of view of someone who knows very little about it; take notes as you can think of the points you want to try. You can organize them into a structure or as a list as a guide when posting. Eliminates the ideas that you realize that do not make sense.

2

Presents the issue in the opening paragraph. Includes some background information or basic facts, to orient the reader, and an approach of purpose not a thesis, it is not necessary in this type of testing. An approach of purpose tells the reader what you will try, while one indicates what will defend thesis. The purpose can refine the picture of the test; for example, if your topic is about the nutritional value of vegetables, you can ceñirlo more nutritional value of the vegetables that are roots.

3

Develop the body of the essay with an appropriate amount of information for each main point. A main point may have one or more logically organized paragraphs. Keep in mind that you are explaining something unknown to the reader, so do not leave out essential information that is necessary for the understanding of the subject, although it may seem obvious to you because you want the reader to see which is the basis for another point. Online Writing Lab at Purdue University recommends that “always consider and think about your audience.”

4

Go from one paragraph to another with a transition sentence. You can use the last sentence of a paragraph to connect with the first sentence of the next. Between sections, you can do the same or use markers or subtitles as Roman numerals.

5

Finish the essay with a summary of the points you tried, talks about the importance of the subject, or both. Discuss the importance of the issue is a more sophisticated approach, but you must be careful not to develop an argument that transforms the persuasive essay rather than explanatory.
